Rose Morrison is an Australian Illustrator from the Gold Coast, AUSTRALIA.

At 10 years of age, I dreamt of becoming the personal stylist to Miss Piggy . . . and I still do! In the meantime, I have developed into multi skilled Illustrator specialising in traditional Painting/Illustration and Digital Art Making Technologies. My work is widely known for its Fashion, Animal and Lifestyle illustrations that have been published and sold as Art Prints internationally.

Between my creative projects I also lecture in Painting at the National Art School of Australia and in Fashion Illustration at the University of Technology Sydney

Above all I enjoy laughing, hanging out with my family and I love ALL animals great and small with and dreams of being a guest judge on Ru Pauls Drag Race.

About the artist Q&A

What is your art process/ what tools do you use?

I'm pretty much self-taught and a traditional oil painter by trade. I can confidently use any art tool from watercolour to wax encaustic. The only tool I've yet to master is the airbrush! I'm a self-proclaimed Procreate Queen, but still prefer to hand illustrate over digital art as its more fun to get my hands dirty. When happy mistakes happen on real paper, they make a charming addition to my artworks. I love drawing and it feels like dancing to me. Everything I know about drawing is from studying every single “Andrew Loomis” book I could find. He is the illustration master!

Do you take private commissions?

Occasionally I do, just pop me an email and let me know what you are after.

What about commercial illustrations?
Yes, I am a professional illustrator and work with a wide variety of businesses to create illustrations for the fashion industry, magazines, logos, blogs, and books.

Where do you find inspiration from?
I love modernising design styles of the past like Hollywood Regency and Pop Art. I am also inspired by Mid Century Fashion, Interior Design, Glamour, Pop, and Drag Culture. My biggest inspirations are the animals around me.

Do you teach?
Yes I do, but only in tertiary institutions at the moment. I sometimes have classes to offer the public in painting, fashion illustration and Procreate. I advertise these on my Instagram and this website when they become available.

Where is your studio?
I live and work on the beautiful Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia.

What music do you listen to while you paint?
I'm a huge fan of Yacht Rock as a genre, current pop, while my favourite podcasts are Tom & Lorenzo's Pop Style Opinionfest, and Dressed: The History of Fashion.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
I hope to be living like the ladies in my paintings! Casually lying about in fabulous settings surrounded by animals and wearing beautiful dresses, with oversized accessories and a crown of glorious grey hair!
